Salaam.
Faith is often spoken of in large words. This hadith uses a small one.
ذَاقَ طَعْمَ الإِيمَانِ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِينًا وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ رَسُولاً
Dhāqa ṭaʿma al-īmāni man raḍiya bi-Allāhi rabban wa bi-al-islāmi dīnan wa bi-Muḥammadin rasūlā.
"He has found the taste of faith who is content with Allah as his Lord, with Islam as his religion, and with Muhammad ﷺ as his Messenger."
Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 34 · narrated by al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAbd al-Muṭṭalib RA · Sahih
Taste. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ described faith with a word from the senses.
A taste is something experienced, not merely heard about.
And the hadith names what that contentment is directed toward: Allah as Lord, Islam as religion, and Muhammad ﷺ as Messenger. Not content with how things are going. Content with Him, as Lord.
It doesn't ask you to check for a feeling, or to measure how much of it you have. It simply names where the taste is found.
O Allah, make us content with You as our Lord, and let us find the taste of faith in that.
